USA TODAY is looking for aversatile, accomplishedVisualAssignmentEditorwith7-10 years experience working with video and photo assets within a multi-media, multi-platform newsroom environment. Candidates should bewell versed in news, features, business and sports. She/he must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and persuasively be able to advocate for visual reporting within a multi-faceted newsroom. She/heshouldbring a broad network of connections in assigning and managing visual assignments with photographers and videographers nationwide. She/he will work collaboratively with editors acrossUSA TODAYs newsroom, as well as other Gannett properties across the country.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of excellence in leadership, breaking-news judgment, visual story idea generation, organization and execution within a multiplatform news organization, all while operating at the highest ethical standards of video and photojournalism. TheVisualAssignmentEditor must be able to quickly react to breaking news and production needs that include finding visual solutions for up-to-the-minute mobile,Web, social media, broadcast, and print platforms. She/heshould have extensive knowledge and experience to navigate and negotiate the intricate maze of usage rights and rates for wire services, topic specific photo archives, Gannett properties, video assets, syndication, social media, and user generated content. She/he understands the goal is to rapidly visually inform viewers across allUSA TODAYplatforms. The ideal candidate has extensive experience using Merlin, Final Cut Pro, Photo Mechanic, Photoshopand FileMaker Pro-- and is able to quickly adapt to a rapidly changing media environment.

This position is based at Gannetts headquarters inMcLean, Virginia.
