Director of Operational Effectiveness at McLean

The Director of Operational Effectiveness will participate in the global development and ultimate oversight of Operational Effectiveness (OE), a proprietary management methodology, customized to the Hilton brand and culture, in order improve financial performance through process reengineering of business processes across all hotel disciplines.

What will I be doing?

The Director of Operational Effectiveness will develop, strategize, direct and support the maintenance and sustainability of Operational Effectiveness (OE) once live at properties, as well as the roll out to additional properties. Provide tactical support to members of the Operational Effectiveness Team.


The Team Members responsibilities will include direct oversight of Property Consultations, Performance Audits and the OE Sustainability Program. Performance audits will be conducted at regular intervals post-implementation in order to ensure the key changes and improvements continue to maintain integrity. A Sustainability Program will include central, as well as local experts trained to sustain results.


Other key priorities are listed below:




  • Assist with the strategy and development of OE roll out plans. Help to determine optimal usage of Carpedia resources vs. internal capabilities



  • Determine location and frequency of Performance Audits for properties having already adopted OE



  • Review performance against plan for operational indicators over time and determine locations that require additional intervention



  • In concert with GLMS project, implements plans for identified labor standardization opportunities in concert with operations leadership



  • Determine ongoing improvements to Hilton Leadership Academy, in order to support new leaders and staff



  • Establish procedures and processes in relation to Operational Effectiveness, for OE Team and Local Sustainability Specialists



  • Utilize Project Management components to direct, track and report on all implementations



  • Develop schedule for roll out and sustainability activity, and ensure members of the OE team are assigned and scheduled



  • Incorporate necessary management and staff skills into online training resources



  • Interact with Senior Management of Hotel Operations and property GMs with respect to the performance of properties and assist with the interpretation of data



  • Prepare and deliver high level presentations and summaries for use by Senior Management



  • Provide direction and directives to the property team members in the perf

  • BS/BA Bachelors degree



  • Minimum of four (4) years of work experience related to hospitality


  • Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience developing and leading a team of four (4) or more individuals


  • Minimum of six (6) years of presenting key findings and key analysis to executive leadership


  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent project management experience

  • Ability to travel, 75% of the time


  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel


It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:




  • MA/MS Masters Degree



  • Minimum of ten (10) years of hospitality industry experience


  • Recent SAS experience

  • Management of implementation teams, two (2) or more team members

  • Project Management experience implementing two (2) complete systems
