We are currently looking for a Safety Manager to join our Operations team based in Dulles, VA at the Dulles International Airport. Reporting to the General Manager, the Safety Manager will be responsible for

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promoting and fostering with all Unit personnel the attitude that safety first is paramount in everything we do.

  • Establishing and driving safety training programs for Unit personnel and monitoring Unit scorecards.

  • Communicating to and educating all levels of Unit personnel on mandated safety requirements such as OSHA, MSDS (Chemical Hazards Program), and other governmental regulatory safety and environmental guidelines.

  • Tracking conducted training provided to Unit personnel and ensuring all needed documentation is current.

  • Partnering with Unit management to ensure that managers daily activities include walk-a-rounds, internal audits, such as Safety Quality Observation Reports (SQOR) and Interior Safety Quality Observation Reports (ISQOR), and

  • Ensure Preventative Maintenance Programs, as they relate to safely using Kitchen machinery, vehicles and equipment, are established maintained, and sustained throughout the Unit.

  • Actively participate and drive safety and environmental programs as developed by Corporate

  • Stays attuned and adapts changes in customer, Corporate and regulatory compliance requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years prior experience as a Safety Manager/Supervisor for a Production/Warehouse type operation

  • Prior experience in a food manufacturing and/or airline industry a plus

Job Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of governmental regulatory requirements such as OSHA, MSDS, and vehicle safety.

  • Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation requirements such as HACCP and the USDA a major plus.

  • Demonstrated abilities in establishing Unit wide and department specific safety programs in production/warehouse type operations.

  • Track record with proven results of driving and sustaining safety related initiatives through training, education, and effective programs development.

  • Strong Leadership skills

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or other common languages a plus

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • ServSafe Certified

Travel:

  • None

Environmental Requirements:

  • Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts

  • Must be to lift, pull, push, and move products, equipments, and supplies daily

  • There may be physical discomfort due to temperature in production area, coolers, and freezers
