General Service Technician at Glen Allen

Job Description

Merchants Tire and Auto has an immediate opportunity for a General Service Technician at our BUSY FULL SERVICE shop in Short Pump.  Prior experience or training through an accredited program is preferred.  This position offers a minimum of $9/hour.  Benefits include 401k with company match, medical, dental, paid vacations and personal days, life insurance, ASE reimbursement, employee/family discount plan and more!!!  In addition, our continued growth provides real advancement opportunity for top performers.

A General Service Technician installs balances and repairs tires in compliance with all Merchant’s Tire company policies, procedures and “Quality Standards". Unloads, checks-in and stocks incoming tire and parts shipments and prepares tires and parts for outgoing shipments. The General Service Technician maintains the organization of a retail store’s inventory of tires and parts. May drive customer’s vehicles into and out of the shop area for tire installation. Is responsible for consistently displaying the highest quality of customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Meet or exceed company performance standards for quality and speed of service to our customers.
• Provide General Service Technician training to all new hires. 
• Monitor and facilitate tire service work-flow.
• Preventative maintenance for all equipment.
• Shop housekeeping, i.e. cleaning, painting, physical image of shop.
• Maintenance of tire shop supplies and orders.
• Follow all safety practices as outlined in policy and procedures.

Job Requirements

• Minimum age requirement of eighteen years.
• Possession of a valid in-state motor vehicle license.
• Strong customer service orientation and a high level of professional integrity.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including weekends.
• Has the ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of all General Service Technician equipment, gauges and tools normally associated with the installation and repair of mechanical and tire related services.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
