Senior Accounting Advisor at Sterling

Responsibilities: Our client is seeking a Senior Accounting Advisor in Sterling, Virginia (VA).

Summary Job Description:

This position will oversee portions of the general ledger including leading in the completion of month-end entries and the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.

Detail Job Functions:

• Reviews and approves balance sheet reconciliations, researches discrepancies and determines the appropriate course of action


• Approves journal entries to record cash, intercompany settlements and other transactions


• Reviews multicurrency reports and resolves discrepancies with the cash and settlement entries


• Provides guidance to less experience accounting personnel


• Maintains appropriate internal controls for the corporate entitys general ledger group and facilitates the testing of internal controls by the companys global internal controls PMO as well as the companys external auditors


• Develops spreadsheets for account analysis and journal entries


• Educates internal clients on more complex accounting principles when necessary


• Provides recommendations for improving the organizations accounting operations


• Lead special projects on an as needed basis

 RequirementsBasic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or related field preferred


• CPA preferred


• Seven or more years of relevant accounting experience preferred


• Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision


• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles

Other Qualifications:

• Experience in SAP preferred


• Strong MS Excel and MS Access skills


• Strong organization and time management skills


• Strong analytical and problem solving skills


• Good communication skills


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
