Middleware Administrator

Vaco Technology has an immediate opening for a Distributed Middleware Administrator on our clients Application Development team. This role will perform the installation, upgrade, testing, and maintenance of Middleware software and hardware in a multiple server and multiple network operating system environments spanning multiple computer sites. You will also follow detailed work plans for both installation and continuing maintenance and conduct tests and monitor new installations and adhere to bank change control policies.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Work under broad direction with full accountability for Middleware technical work responsibilities as requested
  • Receive Middleware assignments in the form of objectives and direct assignments. Work is often self-initiated.
  • Middleware Software Installation
  • Provide ongoing support for clients Middleware Software
  • Write/provide input to technical standards and procedures. Expected to have good written skills to produce high quality technical documents for products supported and installed.
  • Experience with the installation, support and maintenance of WebSphere or Cold Fusion in at least two of the following environments (Windows, Linux or Solaris)
  • Perform problem resolution for Web Application Server software, as needed. Conducts research and testing to determine cause and makes necessary corrections. Recommend changes in the Web Application Server or underlying application to maintain or enhance performance and is pro-active in the area of problem resolution and prevention.
  • Perform installation and deployment of Middleware Software or security patches across the server environment while adhering to bank change control policies.
  • Business understanding of large Banking institutions and the ability to build business relationships with customers.
  • Perform installation, deployment and customization of Middleware Software or security patches across the server environment while adhering to bank change control policies.
  • Communication skills and relationship skills to work with customers at different levels (technical, business, and management).


Technical Competencies/Education/Requirements
  • Rotating 24 X 7 on-call responsibilities
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and job-related work experience equal to 4 - 7 years.
  • 2+ years of enterprise-level server support experience including the following web technologies (IHS, IIS, Sun One Web Server, GSKit, Websphere Application Server, Cold Fusion, WebSphere Portal, SharePoint, SiteMinder, WebFocus. The list above may not be all inclusive due to product standards and vendor support changes.
  • 2+ years building and troubleshooting system/application/infrastructure experience
  • Proficient in two or more Network/Server Operating Systems, such as Microsoft Windows, Linux or Solaris knowledge of VMWare is a plus
  • Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SSH and other technical software)
  • Desire to learn the business of IT (overall view of IT), and Project Management
  • Clear, concise and accurate written technical white paper(s) such as Technical Guidelines, operational procedures, manuals, and configuration documentation.
  • Respond to change in a positive manner and willingness to shift your work or schedule in response to the demands of the situation.
