Accounting Policy Manager

You will play an integral role in interacting with and advising the senior leadership team on technical accounting matters related to US GAAP and IFRS, such as issues related to mergers and acquisitions, corporate debt and equity offerings, derivatives and financial reporting. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:
  • Perform technical accounting research and provide interpretation of ambiguous and complex accounting literature to address technical accounting questions related to special projects.
  • Provide internal and/or external financial analysis, consultation and decision support to senior management.
  • Prepare as well as review accounting memoranda providing documentation of the Companys application of accounting principles to specific transactions or events.
  • Participate in assessing the impact of proposed accounting pronouncements and regulations (SEC, FASB, EITF, IASB, etc.) and assist the Director in formulating the Companys position on potential standard through the comment letter process.
  • Develop recommendations regarding the adoption and implementation of accounting changes for the Company and present to senior management.
  • Coordinate and effectively communicate with various departments throughout the company at all levels of the organization regarding accounting issues and related internal control issues.
  • Play a critical role in assisting the controllers organization with internal and external audits and addressing any audit issues. Assist in the development and training through continuing education presentations for Company personnel.
  • Assist the Director in formulation and execution of group initiatives aimed at deploying robust standardized accounting procedures aimed at driving consistency in accounting policy application throughout the organization and align closely with Internal Controls in this effort.
 Requirements
  • 6 years of relevant experience, large consulting (Big 4) experience a plus.
  • Superb technical accounting knowledge including such areas as Earnings Per Share (EPS), business combinations, joint ventures, securitizations, pensions, derivatives, fair value measurement, consolidations, goodwill and intangible assets impairments.
  • Requires the ability to influence others on important, complex and non-routine issues
  • BS Accounting and CPA Required.
